WITH President Obama praising Gordon Brown for his global leadership, and with world leaders meeting in London, the Tories and Plaid have lost their voice. Could it be that they are hoping this will not be the beginning of the end of the global downturn? Would it be too cynical to suggest that they would love a short term political boost from the G-20 faltering, rather than support the vital work towards a long term recovery?
In the past few months there has been a clear difference between the response of Labour and Conservatives to the global financial problems. Toff Dave and Boy George are alone in believing that we should not grow our way of out of recession but cut our way out of recession, ignoring all the lessons of the 1930s and 1980s when these policies failed abysmally.
While Labour has taken action to help families and businesses come through the downturn, they have done nothing but talk Britain down, and in doing so to offer nothing positive to Wales.
Prior to their loss of voice through stage-fright the Tory response has been isolated and incoherent. While the rest of the world has taken action to boost their economies, the Conservatives opposed the action Labour took to help families and businesses in Wales- even though it was supported by the UK central bank and the CBI.
Aneurin Glyndwr passionately believes we need to grow our way of this recession, through the investment we have put in families, jobs, and in the key sectors of the economy that will provide growth and jobs for the future, to equip the people of Wales with skills to benefit from the recovery when it comes.
Aneurin Glyndwr's message to the Tories and Plaid, you can wait in the wings hoping that those on the global stage trip up... but in staying silent now you prove you are not ready to take the leading role in Welsh or world affairs you aspire to. People will remember you have nothing to say about the biggest financial crisis the world has faced in generations.
